Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
